2018 SPEAKERS

Michael E. Anderson 

Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Michael E. Anderson entered on duty with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on May 21, 1989.  In January 1998, he was promoted to the position of Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.  Michael reported to Houston in January 2000 as a White Collar Crime supervisor managing highly complex Economic Crimes and Intellectual Property Rights investigations.  In December 2001, he was named supervisor of Houston’s Enron Task Force investigating the largest and most complex White Collar Crime case in FBI history.  Following the conclusion of the Enron investigation, United States Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales presented him with the Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service, the highest award given by the Department of Justice, for his work on the case.  Agent Anderson has lectured about Enron and ethics around the country and in Hong Kong.

 

On March 30, 2008, Agent Anderson was promoted to ASAC and currently oversees the White Collar Crime Branch, responsible for Public Corruption, Corporate Fraud, Securities and Commodities Fraud, Intellectual Property Rights, FCPA and Health Care Fraud. He is also responsible for the Forensic Accountants, Media/Social Media matters, Community Outreach, Public Affairs, Recruiting, Training and the Undercover Program.   

 

Michael Anderson obtained a Masters of Business Administration degree with Distinction from the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, he is a Certified Fraud Examiner as designated by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

 

 

Adrien Dubourg

Adrien Dubourg
is employed by The Hackett Group as a Manager in the EPM Transformation practice based out of the Chicago office. He has close to 10 years of progressive experience in finance working mostly in the industry (financial services, transportation and healthcare) as an FP&A SME. He has a unique and robust analytical foundation coupled with a solid understanding of technology (data warehousing, Cognos, Hyperion, Essbase and other cloud-based planning solutions) and accounting processes. His expertise lies in continuous financial improvement and transformation projects with a focus on planning, profitability, process re-engineering, reporting & consolidation, compensation plans and sales force optimization, BI and data management. His interest resides in helping CFOs with better EPM processes and systems as well as a strong accountability of the P&L and best practices.

 

Adrien is a Certified Management Accountant (2015 IMA Young Professional of the year) and a Certified Public Accountant (Texas). He holds 2 masters from France (Finance and Management), spent 4 years in Toronto and is now living in Dallas with his wife and their 2 sons. Adrien enjoys sports at large (running, scuba diving, rugby, golf) and traveling. He also found himself passionate with house renovations and wishes he could do this part-time with Consulting.

Alex C. Eng, CMA, CFM, CPA is Chair of IMA’s Global Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. He also serves as Chair of IMA’s Governance Committee.

 

Alex is vice president, US Corporate Finance at EDF Renewable Energy, the North American renewable headquarters for EDF, a public Fortune Global 100 Company and the world's largest power utility.

 His career history includes controller roles at a global telecom services provider and as tax manager and auditor at a national firm. In his legal practice, Alex has advised on mergers and acquisitions, as well as syndicated lending and structuring of asset-based transactions.

 A member of IMA since 2003, Alex served two terms on IMA’s Global Board of Directors as well as the Board’s Performance Oversight and Audit Committee, and as chair of its Audit Subcommittee. He is a CMA, CFM, and a CPA. He is an attorney of the State Bar of California, with a JD from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, MBA from Suffolk University and a BA from the University of Calgary in Canada. He currently resides in San Diego.

 

 

Bill Jelen

 Bill Jelen is the host of MrExcel.com and the author of 43 books about Microsoft Excel including Excel Gurus Gone Wild, Pivot Table Data Crunching, and Power Pivot Alchemy. He has made over 80 guest appearances on TV’s Call for Help with Leo Laporte and was voted guest of the year on the Computer America radio show. He writes the Excel column for Strategic Finance magazine and is a contributing editor to CFO Magazine. He has produced over 1800 episodes of his daily video podcast Learn Excel from MrExcel. Bill will entertain you while showing you the powerful tricks in Excel. Before founding MrExcel.com in 1998, Jelen spent twelve years “in the trenches”, as a financial analyst for the accounting, finance, marketing, and operations departments of a publicly held company. Since then, his company automates Excel reports for hundreds of clients around the world. The website answers over 30,000 questions a year – for free – for readers all over the world. Jelen joins us from Akron, Ohio.

 

 

Bud Kulesza 
Bud Kulesza
is a highly accomplished business professional with outstanding multinational, multi industry experience. His financial expertise combined with business acumen and leadership skills have led to his success as a CFO of ITT Automotive, a multibillion dollar global company and a respected leader of the accounting profession as a former Chair of the Institute of Management Accountants. Bud brings a wealth of knowledge and an entertaining high energy style to all of his endeavors. From the boardroom to the podium from the shop floor to the classroom, his direct approach to addressing issues combining knowledge, experience and humor make an impact that is not soon forgotten.

 

Bud is currently the Dean Emeritus of the IMA Leadership Academy. He was named by Accounting Today as one of the top 100 most influential persons in Accounting. He has numerous publications in accounting journals including Strategic Finance, CFO.com, Management Accounting, Cost Management and the Journal of Accountancy and has been interviewed on Money Radio and CNBC’s Money Wheel. He is featured in the book “Leadership, Helping Others to Succeed”, interviews with America’s top leadership experts.

He actively supports many educational and not for profit projects and has served on the board of numerous academic and civic organizations. He is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and a lifetime board member of the Institute of Management Accountants. After serving in the US Army, Bud earned an associate degree in Accounting from the Middlesex County Community College and his bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Rider University.

 

Ted Swailes Ted Swailes has over twenty-one (21) years of investigative and technical security experience working with major corporations, law firms and insurance companies. He holds his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from LeTourneau University and received his Masters in Security Management for Executives from the University of Houston-Downtown, graduating from both magna cum laude. In addition, Mr. Swailes is adjunct faculty at the University of Houston-Downtown in the same program he graduated from teaching Computer Forensics. He has brought technical expertise and support services to Swailes & Company engagements in computer crimes and breaches, asset tracking, Internet fraud, civil and criminal investigations, workers compensation, insurance fraud and background investigations. Mr. Swailes has assisted many corporations, law firms, individuals, and law enforcement agencies in the proper forensic acquisition of computer files and data. Using scientific tools and methodologies that are accepted industry practices, he has developed proper storage techniques and reporting procedures for acquired data relative to its use in criminal, civil and administrative matters. In addition, Mr. Swailes supervises personnel and oversees operations in the areas of TSCM, Mobile Surveillance Teams and Covert Operations.  This includes the management and implementation of Technical Surveillance and Countermeasures (TSCM) programs for corporations, executives and small businesses. TSCM is a security specialty designed to identify clandestine devices (bugs) in residences, offices, boardrooms or vehicles. Mr. Swailes has been very "creative" in the building of covert camera and recording devices in support of investigative operations. He also has experience in the application of tracking devices to monitor fleet vehicles, equipment, and personnel in support of our client's national and international shipping and freight forwarding operations.
